As part of our mandate, ISC develops international standards for measuring organizational sustainability, then manages a process for certifying an organization's performance against those standards. To avoid potential conflicts of interest, ISC does not assess organizations directly; rather, it accredits assessors around the world who can work with organizations to measure their performance against ISC's Organizational Sustainability Model™ and submit an assessment report to ISC for a certification decision by ISC's Governing Committee. When ISC deems that OSM threshold standards have been met, a certificate is issued by association.
The assessment and certification process follows the process below:
ISC is building a network of accredited assessors around the world who can serve organizations in their local markets in their local languages. Organizations seeking to be certified against the OSM must engage the services of one of these assessors (who will charge a commercial fee for this service) to complete the assessment using ISC's approved assessment process, generate the assessment report in the ISC-approved format, and submit a certification recommendation to ISC for an approval vote.
Below is a map of countries where ISC can provide an accredited assessor or assessment organization.
The following is a sample of some of the organizations ISC has certified against its Organizational Sustainability Model™.
